WWII Rare Tr Marked German K98 M84 Mauser Bayonet

Description

WWII German Mauser M1884/98 Bayonet. Ricasso is marked "4438" over "Tr" on one side and the other side is unmarked. The composite-bakelite grips are solid with some typical nicks and scratches. The blade has 90% bluing left, it is straight, has not been sharpened, one minor blade nick, there are some small age spots here and there. The pommel has a double Waffenampt mark "WaA8??". Lock button is functional and the button is also faintly Waffenampt marked. There is some surface on the pommel. Length of the blade measures 9 15/16" (1" wide x 3/16" thick spine) and overall length of the bayonet is 15 3/16".
No one has been able to positively ID the Tr mark.
It may be a police marking. They are quite rare though.
