    Description

This historic piece of WWII memorabilia was discovered in a box of WWII related papers in 1992. I'm 78 now, with no children, and it's time to let someone enjoy it as much as I have.
When I was doing the close-ups of this beautiful  poem, I think I missed copying part of the middle. However, it should be viewable from the complete image of the poem. This is real life, not a scene in a movie and judging from the enclosed paper with their names on it, it must have really melted her heart.
This letter/poem is incredible and belongs in the D-Day Museum. One can only imagine the intense feelings experienced during that time period.
Inside of the folded card was the names of the sailor and soldier that experienced that moment.
The sailor was Eugene Harold Paine M.D. And the soldier was Major Mariska Pelet (Payne)
U.S. Army Nurse. Apparently that intense time they shared led to marriage.
The folded piece of paper bearing these names is also part of the auction.
    measures 4 3/4" by 5 1/2" folded by 4 3/4" by 11" ope.
