    Description

Vintage American Flyer 21573 New Haven EP-5.
American Flyer introduced its replica of the EP-5 1956 one year after the original locomotive debuted.
The cab of the locomotive was molded of black plastic, which was then painted with the distinctive black, orange and white “McGinnis” paint scheme, including the stacked “NH” logo.
At the top of the engine were two operating pantographs, and a black plastic horn was installed above both cabs.
In 1958, the New Haven EP-5 was assigned a new five-digit number, the 21573, and stayed in Gilbert’s catalogue through 1959.
This engine lacked the operating whistle.
This engine has been in a collection for over 50 years, so I’m certain it will require some TLC and I cannot guarantee that it is operates.
This engine appears to me to be in Very Good condition but please refer to the pictures to determine the condition.

Thank you for your interest. Before placing a bid or making an offer, please read the following:
Photos tell much more than words. I make an effort to include well lighted photos that are bright and clear  that show many different angles. The photos show much detail and are the most important part of the description. I will also provide a reasonable detailed description of what I have found through research as an addition to the photos. Between the two you should be able to ascertain what you are bidding on. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please ask in advance before submitting a bid or making an offer.
I am not an expert in model trains; however I do make an effort to do some research so that items are listed correctly. I do not have a way to test trains or other items. I do not make any representation about the condition or suitability of any engine or motor for any particular purpose. No warranty of any kind is provided regarding operability of any item. Items are vintage and collectible and some may be very old. They will need some TLC and basic maintenance and possible repairs.  All items are sold “as is” and there are to be no returns; in the unlikely event there would be a return, buyer would be responsible for return shipping.
Payment is through eBay and expected within 3 days of a winning bid/offer/purchase.
If you happen to purchase multiple items, they may be sent together to save on shipping. In some cases, however, size constraints won’t allow me to combine multiple items when shipping.
They will be carefully packed and generally shipped as soon as possible after payment clears. Very large packages may be shipped via UPS.
Your interest and questions are very important and I make an effort to be prompt with responses. I greatly appreciate you expecting a reasonable response time. Thank you again for your interest!
