American Flyer 285 engine Overhauled--with Air Chime whistle --which works.
-eunit cleaned and polished.
-Re-wired 4 wire setup from tender to boiler.
-Pick up springs cleaned and polished.
-Tender wheels cleaned and polished.
-Boiler taken apart and cleaned then lightly oiled and greased.
-Correct brushes.
-Correct springs.
-Brass wheel on the tender.  (with the correct axles.)
-Choo choo works.
-Head light which works.
-Smokes good.
-Red plastic chimney.
-Link couple which works.
-Spring on the front truck -- works correctly.  (I know that the 285 didn't come with a front spring--but--it runs better.)
-Plastic boiler, Tin plate tender.
-Nothing broken and everything works.
-Good Graphics (see photos).
-Tested on a large layout with both left and right turns and multiple turn outs (switches)--ran great.
Note:The Air Chime whistle in the engine works-but the whistle and canister unit are NOT included in this auction.
This is a very nice example of a 285 engine.  It has little play wear and is complete, nothing is broken.  The Air Chime whistle works.
Just put in on your layout and run it (or on your shelf and display it.)
