1033----WWII letters of Wilma + Robert Carlson both in Army to parents Eureka CA
    Description
Great lot of WWII letters and misc items from Wilma and Robert Carlson,
brother and sister, to their parents back home in Eureka CA.
Both were Lieutenants in the US Army, Wilma a nurse in the states, while
Robert was overseas in the 454
    th
    Bomber Group.
The siblings were the children of Leonard and Florence (Nutley) Carlson.
This lot consists of approx. 26 letters (many multiple pages) with family chit chat,
conditions, and the usual goings on in the service. Some of Robert’s letters have been
censored, and some included letters for his friends, and another sister "Betty." Wilma went through basic training at Fort Meade, onto the Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD, then to Georgetown Hospital.
The original envelopes are included with excellent
cancels and stamps. Fine letterhead also!
They were also able to communicate to each other through their parents.
I noticed one humorous remark that Wilma states that she out ranks her brother.
All the letters are from 1945 to the end of the war.
There is also a real photo postcard sent by Wilma from Fort Meade.
There are two important telegrams concerning Robert, when he was injured in Feb of 1945 and when he was released from the hospital. Two postcards with health updates from the Field Hospital are also included here. Great telegram from Robert that he “just hit the States today” and “should be home by the 18
    th
    of July.”
There are even 3 snapshots where Robert is id’d!!
Robert also slipped in two Chapel programs in two of the letters.
** One of the letters is from sister Betty who was not in the service **
All the items are in VG condition or better.
I have photo'd parts of some of the letters as a sampling of this fine collection, but did not read through all of them.
I have added the 1930 and 1940 census records of the Carlson family for your review.
